ABOUT
Founder, Amy Braes, spent more than 20 years developing business acumen and a diverse skill base with long-term positions held in the banking, Not-for-Profit and Local government sectors.
Amy also brings extensive knowledge of governance, having held directorships and appointments on a Community Bank Board as a Director and Treasurer, the Mareeba Chamber of Commerce and the regional health and hospital service’s Community Consultative Committee.
This experience was strengthened by a commitment to continual learning, and as a qualified Workplace Trainer and Assessor, Amy has also completed:
- IAP2’s – Engagement Essentials and Engagement Methods
- AICD’s Foundations of Directorship and Strategy for Directors
- Women on Boards – Setting Goals
- The Australian Human Resource Institute’s Foundations of Human Resources
This professional development, along with extensive experience in operations has provided Amy with a unique and holistic perspective of business. Coupled with her love of supporting women in small business, Amy has created Conscious Copy as a powerhouse to enable women to grow and succeed.
In March 2024, Amy was elected as a Councillor to the Mareeba Shire Council. This new role provides Amy the chance to be deeply connected to the communities of the Mareeba Shire and to bring a fresh perspective to the Council. Amy’s values and background provide her with a unique perspective and strong foundation to contribute to the long-term success of the region.
Amy chose the name Conscious Copy to show the market that we are mindful with our approach and with our words.
Conscious Copy recognises that today’s customers are growing more discerning and more conscious; and for businesses to truly thrive they must pitch to that market.

A Note from Amy
I come from a family of writers.
My grandparents documented their adventures of the 1940s and 1950s in handwritten memoirs that continue to fuel my love for writing today.
From a young age, I knew that words held immense power, and my passion for writing was ignited when my aunt submitted one of my poems to the local newspaper.
Since then, I’ve honed my skills through a diverse career in banking, HR, operations & IT management, community engagement, and contract management. This unique background has resulted in strong business acumen and refined communication and writing abilities, which I can now share with women in small business to help them on their journey to success.
